Why did we change it?
- It's easier to build upon a previously successful philanthropic effort than build one from scratch.
- The entire campus is aware of our connection with Leukemia and Lymphoma so it is easier to promote
- YOU are more aware of our connection with Leukemia and Lymphoma so it's easier for YOU to promote and be excited about.
- We are known nationally for this because of our bone marrow drive, this can only help our national presence.
Isn't this too late of a change?
- The change doeesn't affect the logistics of the event, only the purpose behind it.
- Yes, we will have to rework some of the communication and marketing quickly, but how much did you actually know about the event prior to this? We know you don't all read your emails over the summer :)
- A month prior is perfect to begin ramping up awareness. Not too far away, not too short notice.
What's the ultimate goal?
- Our main fundraising efforts will be funneled through the Light the Night website by creating a SigEp team. Much like has been done for polar plunge.
- VBB is a stepping stone in this effort, we will be fundraising up until one of the Light the Night walks this fall, enhancing our purpose for being there.
- To actually walk in the event! With cool lanterns!
- $10,000 is our fundraising goal from now until the October walks. If each one of you helps raise only $100 each we're already halfway!
What are the event details?
- Who's Invited? - Friends, Family, Coworkers, All of Campus, anyone really
- What? - Volleyball Blast during LTU Welcome week. Yes we are an official welcome week event!
- Where? - The Point. Outdoor Grass Volleyball!
- When? - Saturday, September 6th. Registration at 9am, Tournament begins at 10am.
- Why? - To continue a great LTU tradition and to raise awareness/help others battle Leukemia and Lymphoma.
- How Much? - $15 per player ($90/team). All proceeds go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
- What else will there be to do? - We will have several other activities going on that day. Including games, raffles, and a few other items that are still in the works :)
What is expected of me?
- To keep a positive attitude about the event
